I cant believe everyone just said Edmonton and they didnt even answer your question/

I am also 20, I have been in Calgary for a year and a half from BC.

There are tons of clubs in Calgary that are different themes. Roadhouse and the Whiskey seem to be the most popular.

There is also 17th ave that has tons of bars all on the same street, and lots of people like to bar hop down the street during the summer. And is very popular for hockey during hockey season.

There's also a really cool bar called Aussie Rules here, which is a dueling piano bar.

Calgary also tends to get more concerts than Edmonton.

I am a female and females are everywhere? Haha not sure what to say about this, there will be females at all the bars and clubs.

As for beaches, well Im from B.C. and I have never been to a beach in Alberta, I think most Albertans go to the beaches in B.C., in which case, Calgary is closer to those too.

On top of this, Calgary gets better weather (Although I think the weather here still sucks). The drivers are slightly less scary. Calgary has the most job opportunities, it's only 45 minutes away from the mountains in which you can tons of different activities in. I'll add more if I think of it

Personally, I would go to Calgary. I worked at the Lodge at Kananaskis 1 hour west of Calgary for 3 1/2 years in the late 80s early 90s. I found Calgary a lot more exciting then Edmonton. Be warned though, apartments are pricey. If you have relatives to live with for the first while, that would probably help the transition.

I made a bundle at this resort. Board at that time was $35 a week, yes a week. I didn't even have to buy groceries, only my toiletries and clothes. I saved so much that I was able to buy my own house back in St. John's, NL after only 3 1/2 years. But times have changed since.

As to events, why not email out to the tourism department out there. They should be able to tell you what events are held in the two cities. Also, try and find out what the apartment rents are like.

Edmonton sucks so much! Nothing to do there, no entertainment, high prices. I just sit at home and do nothing because everything costs a fortune. The only things u can do is go to a movie, a park or wem. Nothing special. I've only been to calgary once and I loved it. A lot more opertunities! Lots of people in edmonton are a$$holes. But I guess every city has those..... Edmonton is all city, no fun. Hard to find fresh air, cause it's all polluted!!

Edmonton has a beach, at the West Edmonton Mall.

Really, just go to whichever you can get a job at first. Both are good cities. Edmonton has more trades jobs though.

They both have decent night life.

Calgary winters are a tiny bit less brutal.

Albertans always seem so united, so I thought I'd try to provoke some interprovincial rivalry (since there are no Oilers/Flames game to do the same).

My sisters boyfriends Parents came in from lebanon. We were able to see both cities. Based out of Calgary, we managed to see most of Calgary and go to Banff, Lake Louise, Edmonton, and Drumheller.

I must say that I found Calgary to be phenomenal. Everything was so new, clean and efficient. It just seemed like a city that worked. We saw all the major sites, rode the C-Train everywhere, and drove on just about every trail. It was just great.

Then we drove up to Edmonton. Wow what a boring drive, the only time I used my steering wheel was to get around Red Deer.

We went to the WEM, drove downtown, saw the parliament and then drove across the river to the Muttart conservatory. I tried to get Game 6 tickets (Oilers vs. Dallas) but couldn't. I must say that I wasn't impressed with the city. It seemed dirty, lifeless, abandoned. There were a lot more ghetto like neighbourhoods in and around downtown, including around Skyreach or Rexall Coliseum. I love Calgary and Have lived here for my whole life. It is better than Edmonton!

Only thing in Edmonton to go to is the mall...but I think there are more opportunities in Edmonton anyways.
